UBP Holtekamp Power Plant Unit 2 Dust Collector Retrofit Project in Papua Successfully Completed | A Benchmark Overseas Energy Project Featuring Green, Low-Carbon & High-Efficiency Performance

This project targets the special upgrading of the outdated dust removal system for Unit 2 at UBP Holtekamp Power Plant, Papua. The original dust collection equipment suffered from chronic drawbacks including insufficient dust removal efficiency, excessive flue gas emission, high operational pressure drop, high power consumption of induced draft fans and poor fly ash collection performance, failing to comply with increasingly stringent local environmental standards and long-term safe operation requirements of the generating unit.

Drawing on years of accumulated experience in thermal power environmental protection technical renovation, DaTongLongYuan undertook the full-cycle project scope including reverse engineering of the dust removal system, equipment supply, on-site erection and installation as well as systematic commissioning. With customized optimized dust removal solutions, the company resolved multiple long-standing operational defects in one-stop service, helping the client realize dual goals of ultra-low emission and energy conservation, and building a benchmark environmental retrofit case for coal-fired generating units across Papua.

Constrained by a tight construction schedule, the project team overcame various challenges such as complicated overseas construction conditions, cross-border material allocation and remote technical coordination. By strictly controlling safety, quality and construction schedule and working round the clock, the team delivered the project on schedule with premium quality.

Three Core Technical Breakthroughs Establish Industrial Benchmark

1. Remarkably Upgraded Emission Standard with Visible Improvement on Flue Gas Quality

Professional post-commissioning test data shows the average outlet dust concentration of the renovated dust collector hits only 172.73mg/Nm³, far below the contractual limit of 400mg/Nm³ and achieving a leap-forward reduction of pollutant emissions.

● Under standalone operation of Unit 2, the stack discharges clean pale-white flue gas with no visible dust escape;

● Compared with the yellowish flue gas during dual-unit parallel operation in the original condition, the dust purification effect is outstanding, eliminating smoke pollution from the source and delivering tangible environmental benefits.

2. Optimized Equipment Operating Condition & Qualitative Upgrade of Dust Capture Efficiency

● Controllable stable system pressure drop: The full-load operational pressure drop of the renovated dust collector is kept below 900Pa with stable parameters amid load fluctuations, guaranteeing long-cycle continuous and safe operation of the generator set.

Fully optimized ash discharging system: Fly ash collected from Unit 2 features fine off-white texture. In contrast to coarse black granular fly ash from Unit 1, the upgraded system achieves full-coverage dust trapping and sealed collection, completely eliminating ash leakage and accumulated ash problems.

3. Proven Energy Saving & Cost Reduction Delivering Long-Term Economic Benefits for the Owner

With identical unit operating load, the hourly current of Unit 2 induced draft fan reduces by 5.61A compared with Unit 1. Calculated based on an annual operation duration of 7,000 hours, the plant saves 346,879kWh of auxiliary power annually, cutting auxiliary power cost and realizing win-win gains for environmental protection and economic operation.

Practicing Green Development Philosophy & Setting a Benchmark for Overseas Retrofit Works

The successful delivery of Unit 2 dust collector renovation fundamentally eliminates inherent flaws of the original system such as low dust removal efficiency, high energy consumption and frequent hidden operational hazards. Practicing the green and low-carbon development concept with tangible results, the project vigorously facilitates local ecological conservation and green transformation of regional energy industry.

In addition, the project has formed a complete set of replicable mature practices covering standardized rapid construction, refined system commissioning and professional intelligent operation & maintenance, offering referable and promotable benchmark solutions for similar environmental upgrading projects worldwide. It fully demonstrates DaTongLongYuan’s core technological strengths in energy equipment transformation and comprehensive competitiveness in overseas engineering services.

Innovation never stops amid forward development. Adhering to the development philosophy of safety priority, environmental protection orientation, technology-driven development and benefit-focused management, DaTongLongYuan will keep promoting technological innovation and equipment upgrading in global energy sector while expanding overseas market footprint.
