Guoneng Suzhou Power Plant: A Technical Revolution against Coal Plugging

Among these projects, the coal-bunker de-plugging retrofit at Guoneng Suzhou Power Plant is a textbook breakthrough for the industry.Because the plant co-fires a high proportion of sludge, it had long suffered from severe coal plugging. The originally adopted “shrimp-bend” pneumatic vibrator system not only failed to solve the problem, but also deformed bunker walls and cracked welds due to high-frequency vibration, seriously affecting operation.

To tackle this industry-wide pain point, DaTongLongYuan went back to fundamentals and developed an innovative integrated system: rotary scraper cleaners above and below the slide gate plus pneumatic air-knife sweeping.The lower scraper ensures no plugging in the bottleneck from the bunker to the feeder inlet.The upper scraper and air-knife prevent arching and agglomeration in the lower section of the bunker, cutting the physical chain of plugging at its root.

Retrofit of the de-plugging devices for mills #5B, #6B and #6D is in the final stage; installation of the third unit will be completed next week.Upon completion, the chronic plugging problem will be solved, equipment efficiency will rise, maintenance costs will fall, and stable operation will be secured.
